Sesé implements an electric shuttle for air freight transport
- The 100% electric operation will make connecting journeys with the company’s charging facilities located at Zaragoza airport
- The zero-emission shuttle will travel up to 42,000 kilometres a year
- The incorporation of alternative and efficient energies adapted to each stage of the supply chain is a fundamental part of Sesé’s decarbonisation strategy
Zaragoza, 26 July 2023. Sesé will have a 100% electric shuttle dedicated to the transport of air freight in connection with its facilities located at Zaragoza airport. The operation will run up to a total of 42,000 kilometres per year with zero CO2 emissions.
The incorporation of alternative and efficient energies adapted to each stage of the supply chain is a fundamental part of Sesé’s decarbonisation strategy. In this sense, this new operation will make zero-emission journeys between the company’s air cargo facilities located at the airport and its consolidation warehouse at the Zaragoza Logistics Platform.
“We aim to decarbonise each stage of the supply chain as much as possible with alternative energies adapted to each route. Electrification in freight transport presents great opportunities, especially for short-haul operations such as those we carry out at the airport with air freight”, says Carlos Giner, Sesé’s Transport Director.
Sesé has facilities of 15,000m2 dedicated to the management of import and export flows by air; reception and preparation of goods; consolidation of cargo and construction of pallets or air containers that are subsequently transferred to its own facilities at the airport where airport logistics tasks are carried out, as well as security and customs controls. The company has 4 of its own hubs of this type within the three main cargo airports in Spain (Madrid, Zaragoza and Barcelona), which handle a total of 165 million kilos of cargo per year.
